  1. The photos look great Neal!
I really love receiving this email- however often it is that you send it.

I have a gardening question for Andrew. And if he hates gardening questions don’t pass this on to him. Just thought I would check.
We are hoping to build some sort of planter on top of our brick wall that surrounds our south philly “back yard”
There is barbed wire there now, we thought a planter with some sort of plant or grass that grows year round would be nicer than the barbed wire.
Any thoughts about what we should grow? The planters will hold about 4 inches of soil and be about 2 inches wide..
we would only want it to grow between 1 and 2 feet high.

We also don’t want it to attract cats and other vermin….

Let me know. If you don’t want to ask or he doesn’t want to answer, I completely completely understand.

Thanks and hope to see you soon!

    • Therese!

Thanks for the kind words. I am passing along this question to Philadelphia’s Premier Horticulturist and Urban Farmer.
